Doug grew up mainly in Boxford, Massachusetts, and in East Orleans, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod. He graduated from the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University—majoring in acting and script writing.
After spending years studying acting in New York City with some of the best acting teachers in the world including Lee Strasburg, Stella Adler, and Shelly Winters, and performing small parts in films, he eventually changed paths and became an ordained pastor and chaplain. His communication skills led him to speak at numerous churches across the country.

He decided to focus on writing in 2009. He’s written two feature screenplays, The Return of the Santa Fe Super Chief (semi-finalist at PAGE), and Over the Monster (Winner, Best Screenplay, 2014 Woods Hole Film Festival). He’s also written two critically acclaimed novels based on the screenplays, which can be found on Amazon. In 2014, he taught screenwriting as an adjunct at Stevenson University in Maryland.
Doug returned to Lexington, Massachusetts, in 2014 with his wife, Renee, and his young daughter, Hannah, who he takes care of as a fulltime stay-at-home dad.
For his next writing project, he's working on a World War II romance based on a true story.
